STAR WARS The Force Awakens Review

Important note before reading: If you are one of those fans who are trying to stay as far away from spoilers as possible until you see it, this post is absolutely not for you.

Does this really need an introduction? No. It doesn’t. Below the cut is my review on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Side note: if you read this review and then complain to me that I spoiled it, it’s your own damn fault for being to stupid not to heed my warning.)

Within the first 30 seconds of the movie I was crying. And I’m not even kidding. I wish I was, but I’m not. They started it up like the other 6 movies and I nerded out a bit and cried. A lot.

So anyways, the main thing that everyone’s after is the map to Luke Skywalker. As everyone knows, they’ve done an amazing job at keeping everything under warps until the premiere day, and now everyone is exploding.

In the trailer people speculated quite a lot that Luke would be prominent in the movie because of how his lightsaber was handed off. That really wasn’t the case, he wasn’t really in the movie, but he was still a ‘problem’ because everyone wanted to get to him first. In the case of the First Order, Kylo Ren wanted to get to him to kill him, and the Resistance, lead by¬†General Leia, wants to get him just to bring him home. It’s a mystery as to why Luke went away for the most part of the movie.

It is later unraveled that Luke went away because he failed to train Kylo Ren to be a Jedi, for Kylo Ren takes after to much Darth Vader, who Kylo Ren himself reveals to be his grandfather. Kylo Ren is the son of Leia and Han Solo, and Leia just wants him back to her while Han Solo wants nothing to do with him anymore.

Taking a break from Kylo Ren, the next biggest mystery is Rey. Who is Rey and how does she have the force & why did Luke’s saber call to her? First thing’s first, she is related to them somehow, that’s a given. There are two theories, both of which I agree with:

Rey is Luke’s daughter. That would be the most obvious choice, given that his saber called to her. But some people or don’t like this theory because Jedi’s are sworn to not have children. But you never know, they could still make it happen.

Or….

Rey is the daughter of Han Solo and Leia, but Han left before he knew about Leia being pregnant with Rey and therefore, she is younger than Kylo (who’s real name is Ben, btw). People support this theory the most. It would make sense for Han not to recognize her if he left Leia before he knew about her, and it would make sense for Leia to hug her sort of like she did at the end of the movie after (spoiler) Han died. But that could also be Leia hugging her because thy both felt it, due to the force.

Either of these theories I am fine with, but they could also not use either of these and fuck us all over with something that doesn’t make sense at all.

I’m going to stop rambling at that, because I’ve basically rambled about all the things i’ve wanted to ramble about. Go see the movie. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
