The Cuckoo’s Calling – Robert Galbraith

Before you read this review, read my philosophy on spoilers here

I love J.K Rowling’s writing. From Harry Potter to Casual Vacancy, I have read almost all of them (well I haven’t quite finished Casual Vacancy yet…). She is my writing inspiration and I love that she is branching out and writing new genres and not sticking to the Harry Potter face that she is most known for. I also think that it is a good idea that she wrote this novel and its sequel under a different name rather than her own. In a way if this book had not sold well, her own reputation would not have been damaged. Of course in my opinion, J.K Rowling can do no wrong in the writing world.

I bought The Cuckoo’s Calling spontaneously in about August before I left for school. I have had it sitting in my room for ages now and finally about a week ago I decided to pick it up and read it. What really caught me was the cover – they say not to judge a book by its cover but with this book the cover caught my attention. I then read the back and the book sounded good and interesting.

Lush Review: Lip Scrub & Space Girl Bath Bomb

I have been dying to try Lush products for ages now. Since I have been away at school almost everybody I have talked to has said that the bath bombs are worth the money and so awesome. So I went to the mall a couple weeks ago and I bought 4 bath bombs and a lip scrub. The total came out to about $35. Here’s what I bought:

The 10 Things I Have Learned In my First Year at College

As my first year at college draws to a close, I learned. I knew that going into college would require an open mind and the willingness to learn new things and have new experiences. I’ve discovered multiple things about college in my first year that are going to make the next three years so much easier for myself, and hopefully these next few things will help anybody else who is entering college as well.

change is going to come…

and by change for once i don’t mean i’m going to switch platforms again. because i’m not. i mean as in with the blog itself.

i’ve been reading up on posts on how to make the blog better and everything better in general and i’ve been seeing how some people are actually making a living off of their blog. so that got me thinking: if they can do it, why can’t i?

so now i’m going to dig more into the process of making my blog for a more variety of people and what not. its going to be a long and hard process, but my ultimate goal is to stay the 19 year old college student who is blogging about life.

happy spring! (hopefully)

this post didn’t come sooner because 1) i am busy & 2) on the first day of spring where i am, it friggin snowed. yes, snow.

i went home on the first day of spring to surprise my mother for her birthday because it is the same day. so i got home and i knew it was supposed to snow, but i was hoping it wouldn’t because it had been decent weather all week. mother nature gave me a big fuck you because it snowed the entire night. but it was gone by the next morning.

this post is not going to be as insightful as the last one. i felt like my last post, which was about fan fiction, was actually really well-written and I was quite proud of it. this post kind of has no point to it, but just to show you that i am alive and hopefully i’ll have some creative stuff going on soon.

what’s new? i worked on the set of a short film all weekend last weekend. i was a production assistant, so i did the little annoying things they needed to get done like put the cafe were we filmed back together once it was done, take production stills, etc. but honestly, it was such a great experience. we worked with probably a $200,000 camera that is used in the film industry and just to be on set and see how a film is made professionally was so educational that i am really happy i decided to volunteer.

i updated a few stories and even put a new one out there. on fanfiction.net, i only have Gryffindor Princess up because that one is the most popular there, so I am keeping that there. on archiveofourown, i have up three stories. I am going to be editing my writing page shortly with correct links for each, but my new story is actually a Captain America/OFC fic. i have one chapter published and am trying to write the second. i really want this one to happen because i have such a great storyline for the whole thing and i’m super excited about it.

so anyways, its been really nice out lately. there hasn’t been any to cold of weather lately which makes me happy because it is april now so nice weather needs to really come along now.

i literally don’t have anything actually insightful to say. i updated the theme and i quite like it. i need to add my social media links into the sidebar yet, but i’ll get to that next. oh well, until next time!
