The Life of a Daily Vlogger

Daily vlogging is a commitment. It’s not just something that I thought of overnight and decided to do one day, it was something that I had been thinking of for a long time. It doesn’t just effect the way you live your own personal life, but it effects the people around you as well, even though you may not think so. It’s not as simple as turning a camera on and recording. So much more goes into daily vlogging.

When you commit to being a daily vlogger you realize that it’s not just about recording your entire day start to finish all the time. You have to set boundaries for yourself or else people won’t want to be around you. Don’t record children unless parents say you can, don’t record anybody who doesn’t want to be recorded, and know when to turn the camera off and what to not say in videos.

I’ve only been doing this for a month and though I haven’t had to cut out many things that I have said, I have had to cut out things that friends have said in fear that it might be offensive to anybody who watches my videos. You don’t want to offend anybody when you’re just starting out because it will give you a bad name when you need to have a good name.

There’s a lot of things to keep in mind while daily vlogging, including what your day may be structured like and having to think of what you’re going to be able to do on a daily basis. Here’s a sample of my day in terms of daily vlogging and what I can do on a Thursday & Friday schedule. (These times are estimates of what usually happens)

Thursday

  • 8:30 AM – Alarm goes off and I get ready for the day.
  • 9:00 AM –¬†Edit the previous vlog and export
  • 9:30 AM – Say good morning to the new day’s vlog quickly before classes.
  • 10:00 AM to 3:45 PM – Classes nonstop, nothing gets recorded in this time and i freak out over not having anything.
  • 4:00 PM – Usually about the time I give an update and complain about my day.
  • 5:00 60 6:00 PM – Dinner time. I get my best content at dinner most days.
  • 6:00 PM to Bed time – If nothing is going on I usually don’t record. I’ll try to say goodnight before I sleep but that hasn’t happened lately.

Friday

  • 7:30 AM – Alarm goes off for me to get dressed and go to work.
  • 7:45 AM – I’ll say good morning on the way to work and try to record until I get in the building.
  • 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM – Edit the previous vlog and get it scheduled to go live while at work. No recording gets done.
  • 12:00 PM – Give a short update while on my way to my internship
  • 1:00 PM to usually like 3/4 PM – Internship. Nothing gets recorded or done in terms of vlog.
  • Whenever I get out – I usually like to collapse when i get back to my room and record some nonsense about what i plan to do over the weekend.
  • Dinner to Bed Time: Fridays is a free for all in terms of vlogging. I don’t homework on Fridays at all because I want a work break.

As you can see when you are a daily vlogger your day is not really your day anymore. You have to think about things like what to record, when to record and what to do if there isn’t anything else to record. Sometimes you have to be creative with your vlogs if you don’t have enough footage to suffice for one.

Daily vlogging is a lot of fun because it helps create memories that last you a lifetime, but it is also a major commitment. If you want to try the challenge and if you want to create your memories, then I say go forth and enjoy yourself.
