Daredevil Season 2 Review

Okay, I gave you all a week before I decided to write this. HOLY SHIT ITS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE I’VE STARTED THIS POST. Seriously, I started this post probably a week after the season was released and now here i am, on April 12th posting this.

I hope that most die-hard fans binged it and are ready to discuss and review what happened! Daredevil season 2 was released on March 18th at 12:00AMPST/3:00AMEST. I finished it shortly after I started (meaning at 1:00AM the next day. That’s how long I stayed up watching it) and OHHH MYY GODD. Now onto the Daredevil Season 2 review!

As usual, read my disclaimer/philosophy right here and proceed with caution.

Daredevil Season 2 Review

So, lets begin with the fact that season 2 was way darker than season 1. And Season 1 was very, very dark. Right in the first episode, you know shit’s gonna go down when you see the entirety of the Irish mob from Hell’s Kitchen get murdered.

All but one of them die, and the one that survives ends up dying later on, but he is how Matt, Foggy & Karen meet Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher. It’s interesting because main plot point up until probably like episode 5 or 6 is mainly and strictly Frank Castle’s, but then it shifts kinda towards Elektra after she joins in during episode 5.

Elektra is as wonderful in the series as she is in the previews. She’s one of the few that refuses to take Matt’s bullshit, although that costs him in the end his relationship with Foggy & his actual romantic relationship with Karen (yuck).

I still dislike Karen. At first I thought in the beginning of the season that she was going to get better and I would be able to tolerate her more, but then she had to go and kiss Matt and they had to go become a couple and that’s just no. Just no. My NOTP (NOTP: “NOtp” describes one’s least favourite pairing.) became canon and boy that pissed me off. So no, i don’t hate Karen because she’s dating Matt, but I hate her because she’s still fucking useless. I don’t hate the actress, either. Maybe it’s the portrayal I dislike?

But one person I do like Karen with is Frank Castle. Towards the end,  after he breaks himself out of prison with the help of Wilson Fisk (spoiler, surprise surprise he’s still involved!) Frank oddly started to confide in Karen. They think that Frank broke out to seek revenge for the people who hurt his family more, but it is not him so Frank and Karen devise a plan together to seek out who this shooter is and kill him.

I’ve realized that I have yet to talk about Matt yet. Matt’s ultimate demise with his relationships is that he couldn’t find a focus between being with Elektra at night and fighting her battle, with during the day during the Frank Castle trial. He was so focused on helping Elektra that he almost put the trial on the backburner, which destroys his relationship with Foggy and soon after, Karen.

I won’t give away the entire ending, but let me tell you, it ends with Matt showing Karen the Daredevil mask and telling her that he’s Daredevil. Then there’s something else, but that I won’t give away to you.

Overall, I rate the season a 9/10. It would be 10/10, but you know, MattKaren.
