I'm Alyssa Michelle. I am a 21 year old undergraduate Film and Television student who has a lot of thoughts and opinions and likes to share them with people. I am also way too obsessed with Star Wars and all things nerd.
I love Netflix. Well, most people love Netflix but now that I’m out of school and have a bit of time on my hands I’ve been watching more and more things lately. I decided “You know what would be a good idea? Making a post about all the things I’ve watched.” So I decided to start What I Watched Wednesdays!
This will be a bi-weekly series that will recap everything I’ve watched over the past two weeks. I decided to make it bi-weekly because sometimes I don’t watch a whole heck of a lot of things. The things I watch will range from episodes of TV shows, full seasons, movies from Netflix, and documentaries. Oh boy, have I been watching documentaries. The formatting will be the title – my rating. Now without further ado, let’s get to it!
I was clicking around the interwebs yesterday after doing a swarm of updates to the site when I came across probably my new favorite blog called The Nerdy Girlie. As I was clicking around on her site and I came across something that caught my eye called 5 Fandom Friday. Intrigued, I read more about it and its basically a day where bloggers can post five things related to a fandom or even more than that. I decided to take that idea and adapt it into my own new weekly series, Fandom Fridays.
How have you been? I hope that you’ve been well. Me on the other hand, I’ve been pretty okay for once. Junior year of college just concluded and while I didn’t do as good as other people, I’m still mid-way pleased with myself. Now it’s summertime and I’m supposed to get my blog and Youtube channel back on a consistent schedule. Or at least that’s what I’ve tried to do every other year.
Seriously – what is it with Junior Years of school just being 20x more difficult than the other three? Freshman years are always a little difficult because you’re adapting, sophomore years you tend to slack off a little bit. But Junior years are straight up HELL. Like, what is the difference between them??
I guess this post is an attempt to excuse myself from barely blogging at all. I had a REALLY solid schedule up over break. The problem is that I fell behind once I got back to school with writing them to be published. I would try to catch you up on anything that’s happened, but the reality is nothing has happened.
This is the first time in my college career that I actually feel like a stereotypical college student: swamped with so much work they can barely do anything. There’s just so much work that’s being piled up that it’s making it hard for me to do things that I enjoy: blogging and vlogging.
I miss daily vlogging. It was a fun way for me to rant and have no one really judge me and blogging is where I can do the same thing in a written form.
This gets me thinking: is college really worth it if you can’t do things that you enjoy? Its supposed to be the best 4 years of your life but if you’re swamped in so much work that you don’t want to do anything you enjoy because you’re so unmotivated is it really worth it?
I know I said that I was done with review posts – but hear me out. The My Scheming Mask looked like it would actually be some help for my skin. I found it from Youtube and bought it off of amazon to try. What is it? A carbonated black head peel off mask that is supposed to pull out your blackheads and other gross crap from within your pores. When I look at my pores they always look like they’re full of gross crap so I thought I would try this. I found the mask on Amazon for $10 with free shipping.
Note: it’s not meant to go all over your face. It’s probably not meant for your chin either, but I did it anyways. Read below to see my steps and thoughts.
You guys have been getting a ton of reviews from me, but that’s because I’ve been reading and watching movies. Hidden Figures, the story of three black women in the 60’s working for NASA and having to struggle to climb up the scale, looked like it was going to be amazing from the start. Their work was revolutionary to the company and started an equal rights movement for NASA.
Katherine Johnson was recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work in NASA. The film in based on true events and was absolutely spectacular. As always, read my spoiler warning before you proceed.
